The Rt Hon Darren Jones MP was appointed Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster on 5 September 2025, Minister for Intergovernmental Relations on 6 September 2025 and Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister at the Cabinet Office on 1 September 2025.

He was previously Chief Secretary to the Treasury.

He was elected as the MP for Bristol North West in June 2017.

Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister

The Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister oversees work across Government to support the delivery of the Prime Minister’s priorities and the Government’s Plan for Change.

Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster

The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster administers the estates and rents of the Duchy of Lancaster, and is a member of the Cabinet.

He is responsible for:

  • Oversight of all Cabinet Office policy
  • Coordination and delivery of cross-government priorities
  • Oversight of national security policy coordination
  • Oversight of state reform and Civil Service reform
  • Communications policy for Government 
  • Propriety and ethics 
  • Public appointments

Minister for Intergovernmental Relations

As Minister for Intergovernmental Relations, the role holder leads coordination with the devolved administrations on the Prime Minister’s behalf, working closely with the Territorial Offices, to make sure that across government work is being done on behalf of the entire United Kingdom: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.

H.S.H. Prince Max von und zu Liechtenstein has been the CEO of LGT Group since 2006 and was appointed to the role of Chairman of LGT Group in 2021. Since the beginning of his tenure at LGT in 2006, the international Private Banking and Asset Management Group has increased its assets under management from USD 57 billion to more than USD 450 billion. LGT is fully controlled by the Liechtenstein Princely Family and employs over 6000 people in more than 40 locations worldwide.


H.S.H. Prince Max is the founder of Lightrock and LGT Venture Philanthropy as well as Chairman of Lightrock and a member of the Foundation Board of LGT Venture Philanthropy. Lightrock is a leading impact investing firm with over USD 5 billion in client assets under management. LGT Venture Philanthropy focuses on education, healthcare and ecosystem preservation and has invested over USD 150 million in selected organizations in its strategic target areas.


H.S.H. Prince Max started his professional career in the private equity industry in 1993 as an investment analyst at JP Morgan Partners in New York. After five years in the United States, he returned to Europe in 1998 to work for the private equity group Industri Kapital as an Associate and Associate Director in London and Hamburg. In 2000, he rejoined JP Morgan Partners as a Director in London before becoming the head of JP Morgan Partners’ German office in 2003.


H.S.H. Prince Max holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a degree in Business Economics from the European Business School.
